The Wabash Valley Amateur Radio Association has been serving the amateur radio community in
Terre Haute and the surrounding area since 1927.

This website provides resources for both the club membership and for all Wabash Valley amateur radio operators.

Announcements



The WVARA, in partnership with the Terre Haute Childrens' Museum, the Vigo County School Corporation, and Joink, Inc., will be contacting the International Space Station (ISS) via amateur radio sometime during the 2nd half of 2025.

Brentlinger Award Nominations

Brentlinger Award Nominations Due February 7, 2025

The Brentlinger Award recognizes those amateur rado operators who have made a significant contribution to the amateur radio community in the Wabash Valley -- either for a single noteworthy acheivement or for a pattern of service over a period of years. Nominations should include a justification as to why the nominee is desreving of the award.

Any Wabash Valley amateur radio operator may be nominated regardless of WVARA membership.  The person making the nomination does not have be a WVARA member.


Unless submitted by e-mail, nomininations should be in a sealed envelope with "Brentlinger Nomination" written on the outside of the envelope.

Nominations must be received by the WVARA President no later than the February monthly meeting.

Nominations may be:
  • Delivered by hand
  • E-mailed to:  president@w9uuu.org
  • Mailed to the club adddress (WVARA -- PO Box 10081 -- Terre Haute, IN 47801-0081)
  • Mailed to the President's home address (Kevin Berlen, K9HX -- 308 West 4th Street -- Clay City, IN 47841)

WVARA Executive Board Meeting
Board Meeting
The WVARA Executive Board meets once per month. The meetings are either at the Salvation Army, 234 S 8th St, Terre Haute, IN, or online via Zoom.

Normally, meetings are held on the Thursday following the monthly WVARA meeting at 7:00 p.pm EST/EDT. Any WVARA member is welcome to attend Board meetings.

The next meeting will be on Thursday, January 16th, at 7:00 pm EST.
This meeting will be via Zoom only. There will be no in-person meeting.

WVARA HF Net

HF Net
The WVARA holds a weekly net every Saturday evening on 3.682 MHz (+/-10kHz) LSB at 9:00 pm Indiana time (8pm Illinois time). This is an informal net with the purpose of encouraging WVARA members to get on the air and just ragchew. All Extra-class amateurs are welcome, whether WVARA members or not. Amateurs holding other classes of licenses are encouraged to listen in as an incentive to upgrade.
