Illinois QSO Party

Illinois
The Illinois QSO Party (ILQP) is held each year on the Sunday of the 3rd full weekend in October. It is sponsored by the Western Illinois Amateur Radio Club.

The goal of the contest is to contact as many Illinois stations as possible in an 8-hour period. Illinois stations can work anyone. Stations outside of Illinois can only work Illinois stations.

Many participants set up portable stations on the intersection of 2, 3, or 4 county lines so that each contact counts a 2, 3, or 4 contacts, one for each county.

Other participants operate mobile in order to activate as many counties as possible.

The WVARA encourages its members to participate in this contest, either as a fixed, portable, or mobile station operating in Illinois, or as an out-of-state participant,

For the 2024 ILQP, the WVARA will be setting up in the Sassafras Shelter in Lincoln Trails State Park south of Marshall, IL.

While the primary purpose of the operation is to activate Clark County in the ILQP, we will also be handing out POTA contacts.
